Instead of having to change the authentication information contained in Util.java, and then re-compile, samples.properties contains the user name, user password, ReportCaster Distribution Server host name, and ReportCaster Distribution Server port. If this file is not found at run time, the applications will use the default authentication values coded in Util.java.

Some sample applications reference reports in the Managed Reporting base directory (basedir). We have included a sample base directory that includes these reports. In order to run these sample applications, you must ensure that the reports in the sample basedir reside in the Managed Reporting directory. To do this, perform one of the following tasks:

• Back up the existing base directory in your test environment and replace it with the one we include.
• Add the reports referenced in the samples to your existing base directory from the sample base directory.
• Change the name of the report in the sample code to one that exists in your current basedir and recompile.

Some sample applications schedule the WF Reporting Server Procedures cars.fex. In order for these schedules to run correctly, perform one of the following tasks:

• Make sure cars.fex is in your Reporting Servers app path.
• Change the name of the report referenced in the sample code to one that exists in your app path, for example, carinst, and recompile.
