Adapter for Greenplum. The Adapter for Greenplum
has been introduced in this release and is available as a named
adapter on the Web Console in the SQL folder.
Adapter for Informix - Version 7 Release 7.05
-
Truncate Table With Prior to Load Option Support. When
Truncate table is selected as the Prior to Load option on a data
flow target, the SQL generated now produces the code to execute
TRUNCATE TABLE on the Informix database. Formerly, the SQL sent
to the database was DELETE FROM.
Adapter for JBoss Application Server - Version 7 Release 7.05
-
Adapter for JBoss Application Server . The JBoss
Application Server is now supported, and the Adapter for JBoss is
available as a named adapter on the Web Console in the SQL folder.

Primary Key Order Respected by the Create Synonym Process. A new
Create Synonym mechanism ensures that a Primary Key is prioritized,
regardless of how and in what order it was created in the DBMS.
Adapter for Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase - Version 7 Release 7.05
-
TSTOPACK Function: Converting a Microsoft SQL Server or Sybase Timestamp Column to Packed Decimal. Microsoft
SQL Server and Sybase have a data type called TIMESTAMP. Rather
than containing an actual timestamp, columns with this data type
contain a number that is incremented for each record inserted or
updated. The value is stored in Binary(8) or Varbinary(8) format
in the table, but is returned as a double-wide alphanumeric column
(A16). You can use the TSTOPACK function to convert the timestamp
value to packed decimal.
Adapter for Oracle - Version 7 Release 7.05
-
Support for XMLType Data Type. The Create Synonym
facility can now describe a column defined in the DBMS as native
XMLType. This provides support for the XMLType in various server
operations.
-

the NUMBER(p,s) data type that was introduced in Teradata
Version 14. Numeric values with up to 31 digits are supported.
All SQL Adapters - Version 7 Release 7.04
-
Create Synonym Gets Enhanced Index Information. The CREATE
SYNONYM process now collects more metadata on database indexes,
which then records the data into Access File attributes, such as
INDEX_NAME, INDEX_UNIQUE, INDEX_COLUMNS, and INDEX_ORDER.
-
Default Value Is Supported if a Table Is a DataMigrator Target. If a
database column has a default value assigned in the database, and
no value is assigned in Target Transformations, the database will
now assign the default value. In previous releases, a NULL value
was always assigned for NULLABLE columns and a space or zero was
assigned for the NOT NULL columns.
-
Enable DATEDIF and HDIFF (‘DAYS’) for SQLINF and SQLNUC. The
Informix and Sand Analytical Server (formerly known as Nucleus)
adapters translate calls of the DATEDIF and HDIFF functions to native
SQL DATE-TIME functions with Datepart Parameter DAY, Startdate,
and Enddate.
-
Enhanced Feedback for Recreate DBMS Table. When
viewing a list of synonyms in the browser, selecting a relational
database table and the context menu choice Data Management and Recreate
DMBS Table, the database table is created based on the information
in the synonym. For example, the column names and data types, the
key columns, and automatically incrementing columns. However, not every
database attribute is stored in the synonym. A warning message now
appears that some database table attributes may be lost when the
table is recreated.
-
Optimize the DEDIT and DSUBSTR Functions. The
FOCUS functions, DEDIT and DSUBSTR with character arguments, are
optimized to various native SQL character functions. This has been
implemented for most SQL Adapters. These functions are designed
to be used in multi-byte environments instead of the EDIT and SUBSTRING
functions.
-
Optimize the EDIT Function of Integer Arguments. The
FOCUS function EDIT with an INTEGER argument has been optimized
to various SQL native numeric functions. This is implemented for
most SQL Adapters.
-
Optimization of HADD Function for HOUR, MINUTE, and SECOND. The
relational adapters now translate the HADD FOCUS functions to their
SQL counterparts. The HOUR, MINUTE, and SECOND calculations are
optimized as DATEADD for the mentioned components. This has been
implemented for the Microsoft SQL Server and Sybase adapters.
-
Optimization of POWER Scalar Function. The
Auto-Passthru mode takes advantage of the ability to translate the
POWER function for most engines, such as DB2, Sybase, Oracle, Teradata,
Microsoft SQL Server, MySQL, Sand Analytical Server (formerly Nucleus),
Informix, Redbrick, Microsoft Access, Microsoft Excel, Ingres, IDMS, Postgres,
Progress, Cache, Netezza, and SQL1010.
-
Optimizing the UPCASE and LOCASE Functions. Most
SQL Adapters will optimize the UPPER and LOWER case function to
their RDBMS SQL counterparts.
-
[RANKED] BY HIGHEST n [TOTAL] Optimization. Some
SQL Adapters, such as Teradata, Oracle, Microsoft SQL Server, and
Sybase, can optimize BY HIGHEST n/BY HIGHEST n TOTAL
to SQL analytical functions RANK() or DENSE_RANK() with subsequent
filtering by means of a QUALIFY clause (if supported), or an outer
SELECT with a WHERE clause on the RANK value.
-
Reduce Synonym Candidate List Based on Access Rules. The
i5 DB2 Web Console Synonym Candidate list and underlying metadata
is formed from various qsys2/sys* tables, which are not restricted
from an information perspective even though table data may be restricted.
A site may now restrict this access (or have various special rules)
by creating a DB2 UDF and activating the UDF by placing the keyword
pair db2_sqlgetauth={udfname} in the server edaserve.cfg file.
-
Research and Enable SUBSTR and SUBSTV Optimization. The SUBSTR
and SUBSTV FOCUS functions have been optimized to their native SQL counterparts
in Version 7.7.02 for most SQL Adapters. For this release, it was implemented
for the Transoft, SQLBase, UniData, HP Neoview, and Netezza adapters.
-
Sample Multifact Start Schema Load for Stress Testing. Sample Data
can be created in a multi-fact Star Schema for stress testing the
server. You can specify the number of rows in two fact tables and
five dimension tables. This option is accessed from the Application
Directories context menu.
-

subquery (query within a query) can be used in several places in
the SQL Select statement, including a from list, and a WHERE and
HAVING clause.
-
Support Indexed Columns in Create Synonym. A
synonym for an RDBMS table now indicates column(s) with a Primary
Key or INDEX. This information is added by CREATE SYNONYM. When
CREATE FILE is used for the synonym, the table is created with the
INDEX(ES) or with Primary Key.

Selecting Valid Dimensions for a Measure. A
data source view may have multiple fact tables, as well as multiple
dimension tables. Each fact table contains records for a specific
set of measures called a measure group. A particular measure group
may not have a relationship to every dimension table, and if you
select a measure/dimension combination where there is no relationship,
the returned data might be meaningless. Starting in Version 7 Release
7.04, when you create a synonym, each measure group and its related
dimensions are listed at the bottom of the synonym. In addition,
the FIELD declaration in each measure in the Master File has a MEASURE_GROUP
attribute identifying the measure group to which it belongs. Using this
information, the WebFOCUS tools will gray out the dimensions that
are not valid for each measure group so that you can make a valid
measure/dimension selection for your report.
-
Setting ROLLUP_USING_VISUALTOTALS Options From the Synonym Editor. In
prior releases of the adapter, you could use the SET ROLLUP_USING_VISUALTOTALS
syntax to set a default value for using visual totals, and you could
also set a value for a specific file and hierarchy. Starting in
the current release, you can use the SET ROLLUP_USING_VISUALTOTALS
command to set a default value, but you must use the Synonym Editor
to set this parameter for a file or a hierarchy. To retrieve data
from a SSAS cube, the adapter translates the WebFOCUS request to
MDX, the language that is used by the SSAS engine. SSAS then returns
the cells containing values of the selected measures for the specified
members. The values stored in the cube are aggregates resulting
from rolling up measures along the cube dimensions when the cube
was processed, and are based on rolling up all the underlying members
of the hierarchy. Some reports perform selections on hierarchy levels
below the levels selected for display.
