When WebFOCUS is installed, it is configured to invoke the WebFOCUS client in one of the following ways:

Each option resides on the same machine as the Web server and routes requests from that server to the WebFOCUS Reporting Server, as the following diagram illustrates:

Each option includes complete support for WebFOCUS features and accepts variables from the standard WebFOCUS script (WFS) files, installed by default in the WebFOCUS Client. You can determine what option you are using in the WebFOCUS Console.

Procedure: How to Determine Whether WebFOCUS Is Using the CGI, ISAPI, or the WebFOCUS Servlet
  1. In the WebFOCUS Console, click Change/Add.
  2. In the next window, the value for the Admin name parameter tells you what option you are using:

    WFServlet indicates that the WebFOCUS Servlet. This is the default value.

    IBIWEB.EXE indicates that the CGI is being used.

    WEBAPI.DLL indicates that ISAPI is being used.
