The Adapter for Web Services has enhanced support for external security policies. The approach utilizes open source Apache™ Axis2/Rampart Java classes to fulfill the security requirements defined in the Web Services Description Language (WSDL). These classes apply the rules specified by the policy over the SOAP body built by the Adapter for Web Services.

During Create Synonym, the security policy, if it exists, is copied from the WSDL into the Access File. Within the Access File, the POLICY keyword is paired with the extracted policy. Namespace definitions are also added to the POLICY keyword for referencing. When an Access File is parsed by the adapter, the policy taken from the Access File is augmented with information taken from the connection attributes, for example, user, java callback class for password, keyfile, and others.
