WebFOCUS Components Overview

In this section:

WebFOCUS Open Portal Services provide a set of WebFOCUS components as on-screen components that allow you to integrate WebFOCUS business intelligence into your existing Enterprise Information Portals (EIPs).

x
Domain

The WebFOCUS Domain component allows authenticated users to download a list of domains that they have permission to view. Non-authenticated users can establish a guest account to access a domain that has been assigned for their purposes.

x
Report

The WebFOCUS Report component, which combines the Report, Report Manager, and Report Viewer components, and allows users to generate a list of reports returned for a selected domain.

During configuration, the userrunonly parameter is used to specify the mode that can be set for the Report component. If the userrunonly parameter is set to no, which is the default value, the user is able to select and view their own block type, as shown in the following example:

If the userrunonly parameter is set to yes, the Report component is used as a fixed Report and the My Reports link is no longer available. When a Managed Reporting (MR) administrator configures the block type, for example, Launch, List or Folder, any user that does not have MR administrator privileges, can only view this block but not change it, as shown in the following example:

If the developeraccess parameter is set to yes, users with a developer role defined in the Managed Reporting Environment (MRE) can add or modify fixed Reports to the WebFOCUS Report component when the userrunonly parameter is set to yes. By default, the developeraccess parameter is set to no.

The WebFOCUS Deferred Status component allows users to check the status of any report submitted for deferred execution.

x
QuickLinks

The WebFOCUS QuickLinks component allows users to access their Business Intelligence Dashboard (BID) quickly using pre-verified authentication information. If WebFOCUS ReportCaster is installed, links to the Library and Caster are available.

x
Favorites

The WebFOCUS Favorites component allows users to add popular reports to a list of favorites for easy access and execution.

Single-Signon Support

Open Portal Services supports secure signon integration with supported third-party portal products. After receiving the user ID from the portal product through a secure channel, Open Portal Services initiates a trusted Managed Reporting signon on behalf of the user to avoid the subsequent Managed Reporting logon prompt. The strength of this feature can be increased through optional WebFOCUS encryption settings (WFENCR) which include two TripleDES algorithyms. For more information about the trusted MR signon feature, see the WebFOCUS Security and Administration manual.
