Creating Joins and Defines With the Text Editor

The Developer Studio Text Editor allows you to access tools, such as the Join and Define tools, which are not available from the browser text editor. You can use the Text Editor to create alert tests or alert events.

Procedure: How to Create Joins and Defines With the Text Editor
  1. Click the Text Editor button on either the Alert Wizard, New or Existing Test window or the Alert Wizard, Create the Report window.
  2. Right-click inside the Text Editor Alert Test window and select New from the context menu.
  3. Select the Relationships (join) option if you want to create a join or the Temporary fields (define) option to create a virtual field. The WebFOCUS Table List window opens.
  4. Select a data source description from the list and click OK. The Join or Define tool opens.
  5. Create a Join or Define. When you exit the tool, the Do you want to update FOCEXEC? window opens.
  6. Click Yes. The code generated for your Join or Define (virtual field) is saved in the Alert Test or Alert Event Text Editor window.
  7. Close the Text Editor. The Save Current Changes? window opens.
  8. Click Yes to save your Join or Define in the Procedure Viewer.
