Whenever a new release of Performance Management Framework
is introduced, refer to this section of the manual for special migration
instructions.
x
Back up any existing data that you are currently
using.
Note: It is important to back up existing data marts.
If the migration procedure is not completed as expected, you will
still have working copies.
xMigrating a PMF Data Mart From PMF 2.5 to PMF 2.6
This topic describes how to migrate Performance Management
Framework from Release 2.5 to Release 2.6.
The added Time dimension functionality in the PMF 2.6 data mart
requires you to upgrade your existing 2.5 or earlier data mart to
incorporate the new fields and tables.
x
Procedure: How to Migrate a PMF Data Mart From Release 2.5 to Release 2.6
-
Back up
existing PMF data marts.
-
Launch the
standard SQL tool for your RDBMS.
-
From the
SQL tool, execute the following script against your 2.5 or earlier
data mart.
2.6_2.5_sqlmss_migrate.sql
This
script runs a comprehensive conversion that changes the required
tables to the new data mart format while preserving all existing
strategy and measures data and metadata.
xMigrating a PMF Data Mart From PMF 2.6 to PMF 3.1
This topic describes how to migrate Performance Management
Framework from Release 2.6 to Release 3.1. Migrating from PMF 2.6
to 3.1 consists of two procedures, running the PMF conversion utility
program and synchronizing the dimensions in your underlying database
with the WebFOCUS metadata files provided with PMF 3.1.
PMF 3.1 is delivered with a database-specific migration script
that converts your existing PMF 2.6 database structures to PMF 3.1.
You must run the script using an appropriate tool for your RDBMS.
For example, for Oracle you would likely use SQL*Plus, while for
SQL Server, you would likely use the Query Manager.
x
Procedure: How to Run the PMF Conversion Utility Program
-
Back up
existing PMF data marts.
-
Start the
applicable tool for your RDBMS and select the data mart to migrate.
-
Open the
migration scripting query file in your SQL tool:
\ibi\apps\restore\Upgrade_Database\31_26_sqlmss_migrate.sql
-
Run the
query file. Depending on the size of your measures table, this may
take several minutes to complete.
-
Verify that
there were no errors during execution of the query file.
Example: How to Run the PMF Conversion Utility Program For SQL Server
The
following instructions are specific to SQL Server.
- Back up existing
PMF data marts.
- Start the SQL Server
Query Manager and select the data mart to migrate.
- In SQL Server Query
Analyzer, select File then Open,
and open the migration scripting query file:
\ibi\apps\restore\Upgrade_Database\31_26_sqlmss_migrate.sql
- Run the query file.
Depending on the size of your measures table, this may take several
minutes to complete.
- Verify that there
were no errors during execution of the query file.
xMigrating a PMF Data Mart From PMF 3.1 to PMF 4.1
This topic describes how to migrate Performance Management
Framework from Release 3.1 to Release 4.0. Migrating from PMF 3.1
to 4.1 consists of two procedures, running the PMF conversion utility
program and synchronizing the dimensions in your underlying database
with the WebFOCUS metadata files provided with PMF 3.1.
PMF 4.1 is delivered with a database-specific migration script
that converts your existing PMF 3.1 database structures to PMF 4.1.
You must run the script using an appropriate tool for your RDBMS.
For example, for Oracle you would likely use SQL*Plus, while for
SQL Server, you would likely use the Query Manager.

- Synchronize the dimensions
in your underlying database with the WebFOCUS metadata files, as
described in the following topic.
xMigrating a PMF Data Mart From PMF 4.1 to PMF 4.2
This topic describes how to migrate Performance Management
Framework from Release 4.1 to Release 4.2. Migrating from PMF 4.1
to 4.2 consists of two procedures, running the PMF conversion utility
program and synchronizing the dimensions in your underlying database
with the WebFOCUS metadata files provided with PMF 4.1.
PMF 4.2 is delivered with a database-specific migration script
that converts your existing PMF 4.1 database structures to PMF 4.2.
You must run the script using an appropriate tool for your RDBMS.
For example, for Oracle you would likely use SQL*Plus, while for
SQL Server, you would likely use the Query Manager.

to 5 consists of two procedures, running the PMF conversion utility
program and synchronizing the dimensions in your underlying database
with the WebFOCUS metadata files provided with PMF 4.2.
PMF 5 is delivered with a database-specific migration script

xMigrating a PMF Data Mart From PMF 5 and Upward
If you are using a PMF data mart that is V5 level or
higher, PMF will be able to autonomically upgrade its data mart.
When logged in as an administrator, PMF will check to see if your
data mart is current. If it is out of date, you will be prompted
to allow it to be upgraded.
