Main Menu

Reference:

The main menu provides all of the activities that can be performed in the DMC. Some main menu options are only available when certain tasks are being performed, such as working with a procedure or synonym.

Reference: Main Menu: Data Management Console

This main menu is accessible once the DMC is opened and shows all of the basic activities that can be performed in the DMC.

The main menu provides the following options:

File
New

Opens the New Server Object dialog box where you can create new flows, stored procedures, synonyms, specialized flows, or server connections, as well as configure adapters.

Close

Closes the current object. This is available when an object is open in the workspace.

Save

Saves the current object. This is available when an object is open in the workspace.

Save As

Saves the current object with a new name. This is available when an object is open in the workspace.

Print

Sends the current object to the printer. This is available when an object is open in the workspace.

Refresh

Refreshes the navigation pane.

Delete

Deletes the selected server.

Recent Files

Displays a list of the recently used files. This is available once files have been used.

Exit

Closes the DMC.

Edit

The following options are available from this menu item.Active options depend on what is currently open in the workspace.

  • Find
  • Find Next
  • Find Previous
  • Replace
  • Go To
View
Synonyms

If a synonym is open, the following options are available:

  • Segment and Field View
  • Segment View
  • Field View
  • Modeling View
  • Synonym Text View
  • Access File Text View
Data Flow

If a data flow is open, the following options are available:

  • Data Flow
  • Process Flow
  • Text View
Toolbar

Selecting this option will display the general toolbar in the DMC.

Status Bar

Selecting this option will display the status bar at the bottom of the DMC.

Visual Style Toolbar

Selecting this option will display the Visual Style toolbar with available themes for the Data Management Console.

Browser

Selecting this option will display the browser in the DMC.

Console Log

Selecting this option will display the Console Log in the DMC.

Aerial View

Selecting this option displays the aerial view option.

Full Screen

Displays the workspace in full screen mode. To exit this mode, click the Toggle Full Screen Toggle Full Screen button button.

Explorer

Opens a windows explorer style window on the right side of the Data Management Console that shows detailed information about the currently selected server object.

Filter

Allows you to specify what you wish to be shown in the selected application directory. Options are Clear (or no filter), procedures, synonym, or Advanced. Selecting Advanced opens the Filter Applications Tree dialog box, which gives you more control over what types of files will be viewed in the navigation pane. For more information, see Navigation Pane: Advanced Button.

Tools
View Console Log File

Opens the console log file in a text editor, such as Notepad.

Clear Console Log Window

Deletes all information from the message window.

Clear Console Log File

Deletes all information from the message window log file.

License Code

Opens the Product License Code window where you can view, or change, your license code.

Configure NLS

Opens the NLS Configuration window where you can configure your NLS settings.

Options

Opens the Options dialog box where you can set user preferences.For more information, see Setting User Preferences.

Help
Help Topics

Opens the DataMigrator Online Help window.

iWay Software on the Web

Opens the Information Builders iWay Software page in your internet browser.

About Data Management Console

Opens the About Data Management Console window, which displays information such as the configuration date and release number of the DMC.

Reference: Main Menu: Procedures, Synonyms, and Flows

Additional menu options will become available when working with a procedure, synonym, or flow.

The additional options are:

Edit
Undo

Undoes the last edit operation in the Synonym Editor.

Redo

Undoes the last undo.

Cut

Cuts the selected item.

Copy

Copies the selected item.

Paste

Pastes the cut or copied item.

Delete

Deletes the selected item.

Select All

Selects the entire file.

Find

Opens the Find dialog box, which allows you to enter a text string and search parameters.

Find Next

Finds the next occurrence.

Find Previous

Finds the previous occurrence.

Replace

Opens the Replace dialog box, which allows you to enter a find and replace string.

Go To

Opens the Go To dialog box, which allows you to enter a specific line number to go to.

Tools

The following options are available when working with a synonym:

DBA

Enables entering DBA restrictions. See the Applying Database Administrator Security section in the Describing Data with Graphical Tools manual for more information.

Dimension Builder

Enables you to specify so-called dimensions for WebFOCUS reporting. See the Defining Dimensions for OLAP Analysis section in the Describing Data with Graphical Tools manual for more information.

Business View

Enables creating a Business View to limit the fields available for reporting. See the Creating Business Views section in the Describing Data with Graphical Tools manual for more information.

Create Default Dimensions/Folders

Creates a Business View using all of the available information.

Properties

Opens and closes the properties panel for the selected object.

Window
Close

Closes the active window in the workspace.

Close All

Closes all the open windows in the workspace.

Close All But This

Closes all open windows in the workspace except for the open one.

Cascade

Minimizes all of the open windows and cascades them one after the other.

New Horizontal Tab Group

Creates a new horizontal tab group and opens the last object there.

New Vertical Tab Group
Creates a new vertical tab group and opens the last object there.

Reference: Aerial View

Aerial View is available in the View main menu option by clicking Aerial View. For large and complex Process Flows, Data Flows, and Synonym Editor Modeling Views, the Aerial View allows you to select the portion of the flow or synonym that appears in the workspace.The green area in the Aerial View shows the area that is viewed, as shown in the following image.
