This section provides the installation steps for iWay Master Data Server (MDS).

Procedure: How to Install iWay Master Data Server (MDS)
  1. Extract the files to the chosen location (for example, C:\MDS on Windows or /opt/MDS on UNIX/Linux).
  2. Copy the license file to one of the two locations:
    • The user home folder (typically C:\Users\[user name] or C:\Documents and Settings\[user name] on Windows, and /home/[user_name] in UNIX/Linux).
    • The runtime/license_keys sub-folder of the Core installation. For more information, see License Key.
  3. When installing the IDE, it is recommended to place a shortcut to the launcher (for example, mds.exe) either in a Start Menu folder or on the desktop for easy access.

    Note: When deploying iWay MDS on Unix (Linux/Solaris), you might have to change the permissions after unpacking the runtime bundle. This can be done by navigating to [MDS]/runtime/bin and changing the permissions by executing the chmod +x * command. Administrator rights are required (using the sudo command).
