iWay Data Quality Server (DQS) is distributed in the following archives:

• iWay-dqs-[version]-win32.zip

  Graphical user interface with bundled JRE for Windows platforms. A copy of the DQS Core is located in the runtime subdirectory within the archive.

• iWay-dqs-[version]-linux.tgz

  Graphical user interface with bundled JRE for UNIX/Linux platforms. A copy of the DQS Core is located in the runtime subdirectory within the archive.

• iWay-dqs-[version]-runtime.zip

  Platform-independent DQS server engine (Core).

The following steps describe the primary installation process:

1. Extract the files to a desired location (for example, C:\DQS on Windows or /opt/DQS on UNIX/Linux).
2. Copy the license file to one of the following two locations:
   • The user home folder (typically C:\Users\[user name] or C:\Documents and Settings\[user name] on Windows, and /home/[user_name] in UNIX/Linux).
   • The runtime/license_keys sub-folder of the core installation. For more information on licenses, see License Key.
3. When installing the GUI, it is recommended to place a shortcut to the launcher (for example, dqs.exe) either in a Start Menu folder or on the desktop for easy access.

Notes:

• Installing iWay DQS on Windows does not change the system registry.
• When deploying iWay DQS on Unix (Linux/Solaris), you may have to change the permissions after unpacking the runtime bundle. This can be done by navigating to [DQS]/runtime/bin and changing the permissions by executing the chmod +x * command.
• Administrator rights are required (using the sudo command).
