System Requirements

In this section:

The following sections describe the requirements of the operating system to facilitate proper loading into your computer and efficient operation of iWay DQS for all ensuing processes.

iWay DQS consists of two major components:

Each component has a unique set of system requirements.

x
Server Engine (Core)

The code of the server engine is platform-independent. Therefore, it can be run on almost any platform (a combination of operating system and processor architecture), provided there is a suitable Java Runtime Environment (JRE) for that platform. The server engine requires JRE version 1.5 or higher.

Aside from the JRE requirement, iWay DQS requires a sufficient amount of memory:

Sufficient disk space for temporary files and data must also be supplied. Two to three times the amount of the input data is recommended.

x
Graphical User Interface (GUI)

The iWay DQS GUI includes a bundled JRE version 1.6, and therefore, no additional pre-installed packages are required. For optimum performance, a 2 GHz Intel® Pentium®-class processor (or equivalent) with 1GB of memory and a screen resolution of at least 1024x768 is recommended. The installed product requires approximately 600 MB of disk space and is capable of running in both 32 and 64-bit environments.

Selecting the Correct Java Runtime Environment for the Server Engine

For most platforms, multiple Java Runtime Environments (JREs) from different vendors are available. Unfortunately, not all JREs are sufficiently stable to allow processing of large amounts of data. As a proven best practice, Oracle JRE (http://www.oracle.com/technetwork/java/javase/overview/index.html) is recommended for use on Windows and Linux/UNIX systems running Intel-compatible processors. Moreover, most vendors of commercial UNIX distributions provide JREs that are sufficiently stable for their platforms. If available, a commercial JRE with support and regular updates is recommended for production deployments.
