Note: If you are currently using Windows 2003 or Windows XP, you must install a Microsoft Hotfix before installing iWay 6.1.7 SM. For more information, see Microsoft Hotfix for Windows 2003 and Windows XP.

For additional operating system support information, contact iWay Software Customer Support.

The procedures, names, and paths in this manual use Windows conventions and default locations unless otherwise indicated. For other operating systems and non-default locations, substitute accordingly. Names and case may vary between operating systems.

x
Microsoft Hotfix for Windows 2003 and Windows XP

There is a known issue in Windows 2003 and Windows XP that causes memory leaks in some applications (specifically, iWay Designer) when they are installed on these operating systems. To prevent any memory leak issues, you must download and install a Microsoft Hotfix before installing iWay 6.1.7 SM. This Microsoft Hotfix can be downloaded from the following website:

Java Requirements

Java 2 Standard Edition (J2SE™) JDK 1.6 or higher is required for iWay components.

Note: The iSM 6.1.7 installation requires Java version 1.6.0_23 or higher. You must verify that this version is available on your system before installing iSM 6.1.7.

For Windows, Linux, and Solaris, you can download and install the latest supported JDK at no charge from:

http://java.sun.com/javase/downloads/index.jsp

For other platforms, contact the appropriate vendor.

After installing the JDK, the Java command must be in your search PATH to install and run iWay. On Windows platforms, the JDK installation normally handles this for you by placing a copy of java.exe in C:\WINNT\system32. On other platforms, ensure the following is in your PATH variable:

/java_home/bin

where:

java_home

Is the absolute path where the JDK is installed.

To determine if Java is properly installed and in your search PATH, execute the following at a command prompt or shell:

java -version

Information on the Java build appears, for example:

java version "1.6.0_23"
Java(TM) SE Runtime Environment, Standard Edition (build 1.6.0_23-b05)
Java HotSpot(TM) Client VM (build 19.0-b09, mixed mode, sharing)

Note: The terms JDK™ and Java SDK™ are synonymous.

Adapter Requirements

Many adapters require third-party libraries, such as JDBC drivers, provided by the vendor of the target data source, system, or protocol. You must copy these files into the iWay directory structure after you install iWay. More information is available in Preparing Adapters.
