Configuring iWay Explorer

The following procedures describe how to create a repository for iWay Explorer, edit repository properties, and display adapters under the repository node.

Procedure: How to Create an iWay Explorer Repository

To create a repository for iWay Explorer:

  1. Start iWay Designer and click the Explorer tab in the Navigator pane.
  2. Right-click the Repositories node and select New from the drop-down list.

    The New iWay Repository dialog box opens, as shown in the following image.

  3. In the Name field, type a name for the repository, for example, SampleConfig.
  4. In the Description field, type a brief description of the repository (optional).
  5. Click Next.

    The next iWay Repository Configuration dialog box opens, as shown in the following image.

  6. In the URL field, type the iBSP host and port number, for example, http://localhost:9000.

    To access the standalone iBSP that is installed as part of iWay Service Manager, provide the following URL:

    http://host:9000

    where:

    host

    Is the host name where iWay is installed.

  7. Click Finish.

    The new repository appears in the Navigator pane under the Repositories node. Expand the new repository to reveal the Services and Events nodes. The default adapters under the Services node are iWay and RDBMS, and RDBMS under the Events node. The following image shows an expanded repository named SampleConfig.

    Descriptive information (for example, name and URL) for the repository to which you have connected appears in the right pane.

Procedure: How to Edit Repository Properties

To edit the properties of a repository:

  1. In the Navigator pane, right-click the repository that you want to edit and select Properties from the drop-down list.

    The Properties dialog box opens and includes the General, Connector, and Adapter Settings tabs, as shown in the following image.

    The General tab allows you to review and change the repository name and description.

    The Connection tab, shown in the following image, allows you to review and change the repository URL.

    The Adapter Settings tab, shown in the following image, allows you to filter the list of adapters that are displayed in the Services and Events nodes.

  2. Make the required changes in the appropriate tabs.
  3. Click OK.

    The new repository properties are now in effect.

Procedure: How to Filter the List of Available Adapters

The following procedure describes how to filter the list of adapters that are displayed in the Services and Events nodes.

  1. In the Navigator pane, connect to an available repository.
  2. Right-click the repository to which you want to add an adapter and select Properties from the drop-down list.

    The Properties dialog box opens.

  3. Click the Adapter Settings tab.

    The following image shows an example of the Adapter Settings tab contents.

  4. Select the adapter(s) in the Available adapters list that you want to add to the display.
  5. Click the single right arrow button in the middle of the dialog box to move your selection to the Selected adapters list.

    If you want to move the entire list of adapters, click the double-right arrow button.

  6. Click OK.

    The selected adapter(s) appears under the Services and Events nodes.
