Install the FOCUS Site Code

In this section:

Reference:

A unique site code, of the form nnnn.nn, is assigned to each site where FOCUS is installed. This code is displayed in the FOCUS release signature whenever FOCUS is started and can also be displayed by issuing the ? RELEASE command. Users and installers must supply this code when calling Information Builders concerning FOCUS service or maintenance, as the site code is the key to Information Builders' service and maintenance records.

Site codes must be embedded in FOCUS at installation time.

The site code for your installation appears on the packing list that accompanied the installation package. If you do not know it, you can obtain it from the Customer Support department in New York, at 1-800-736-6130.

To install the FOCUS site code, zap it into the CORFOC module using the JCL and instructions found in member FOCSITE of maintenance data set FOCCTL.DATA.

Saving the Site Code for Use by Future Maintenance Procedures

When you unload the FOCUS distribution tape during FOCUS installation, you copy the FOCCTL.DATA data set from the distribution tape to your site's production FOCUS libraries. The recommended name for this library is prefix.FOCCTL.DATA, where prefix is the high-level qualifier for your site's production FOCUS data sets.

After modifying member FOCSITE of this data set by following the instructions provided in member FOCSITE, overwrite the old version of member FOCSITE with the new edited version. This technique allows future maintenance procedures to find and automatically reapply your site code if required.
