Using the Data Tab in InfoAssist Video

Hello, this video will walk you through the Data Tab. The Data Tab provides you with access to data manipulation along with data display properties and options.

Highlight the Data Tab.

You can use the Calculation group to create Define and Compute fields. Selecting Detail opens the Define Field Creator dialog box, which enables you to create a defined field, type a name for the field and enter a format. Now I am going to create a field. And you can see the field you created in the Data Panel.

Highlight Detail button. Input a value of 120000 and call it Gross Profit.

Selecting Summary opens the Compute Field Creator dialog box which enables you to create a computed field, add a name and enter a format.

Selecting Join, opens the Join dialog box, where you can create a new join, edit or delete existing joins and add data sources to a join. You can also establish joins based on conditions other than equality between fields.

The Filter group provides advanced filtering options. Select Advanced to open the Advanced Filter dialog box which provides more functionality than the simple filter with the ability to include Where, And, as well as Or statements in a single expression.

Create filter Country Equals to Canada

The Data Source group is only available in document view and contains the Add Data Source and Switch Data Source buttons. Selecting Add Data Source allows you to add additional data sources to a compound document. The added fields will appear in the Data panel. Select Switch Data Source to choose which data source is currently active and being used to create new reports. A drop down list with all of the data sources that have been added will appear.
