Hello, this video introduces the Insert Tab. You can use the Insert tab to add reports, charts, text, images, and active form controls to a canvas. The Insert Tab is only accessible in Document view. If you are in Live Preview or Query Design view, the Insert tab will be grayed out.
Highlight the Insert tab and ribbon.
You can use the Reports group to insert reports and charts into your compound document. You can add multiple reports and charts to a single canvas. When you select Report, a report placeholder appears on the canvas. When you select Chart, a chart placeholder appears on the canvas. When you Select Existing Report, the Open dialog box appears, and you can select an existing report to be inserted in the top-left corner of the canvas.
Highlight the Reports group.
Highlight Report as it is selected.
Highlight Chart as it is selected.
Highlight Existing Report as it is selected. Show the Open dialog box, and select an existing report, and insert it.
You can use the Objects group to insert text and images into your compound document. When you select Text, an inline text object appears on the canvas. When you select Image, the Open dialog box appears, and you can browse to the desired image and insert it.
Highlight the Objects group.
Highlight Text as it is selected.
Highlight Image as it is selected. Show the dialog box, select an image, and insert it.
The Active Dashboard Prompts group is only visible when the output type of the compound document is active report, active PDF or active Flash. You can use this group to insert active form controls into your compound document. You can add multiple controls to a single canvas. When you select Drop Down, a drop-down control placeholder appears on the canvas. When you select List, a list control placeholder appears on the canvas. When you select Checkbox, a checkbox control placeholder appears on the canvas. When you select Radio Button, a radio button control placeholder appears on the canvas. When you select Text, a text area control placeholder appears on the canvas.
Switch output type to active Flash. Highlight the Active Dashboard Prompts group.
Highlight Drop Down as it is selected.
Highlight List as it is selected.
Highlight Checkbox as it is selected.
Highlight Radio Button as it is selected.
Highlight Text as it is selected.
