Getting Started in InfoAssist Part 2 Creating Reports

Hello and welcome to Part 2 of this InfoAssist Getting Started video. Creating Reports is an easy process. Once you have your blank report document, all you have to do is double-click the fields in the Data panel and they will appear in the Query Design panel as well as in the Interactive Design View.

Creating a report is that simple!

Show blank Interactive Design Panel.

Select the following fields in the Data Panel:

Profit, Cost of Goods Sold, Product Type, and Country.

If you wish to create a filter for the report, all that you have to do is click Filter. The Filter dialog box displays. You can either type the name of the field in the Add field or you can select values and then Fetch All Values from Source, which will give you a list of all of the data values that you can choose from.

So for now, we are going to select Canada and click OK. As you can see, we have created a Filter for Canada.

To exclude the Filter from the Report, simply click Exclude. You will see that the filter has been removed from the report.

Click Filter.

Show Filter Dialog Box.

Highlight the Add field.

Click Values, and then Fetch All Values from Source.

Select Canada and click OK.

Highlight the Canada data value to show that the filter has been applied.

Show the report without the filter applied.

When you have created a report, you can also style it accordingly. Select the field on the report, so for now we are going to use Profit, and the field tab appears where you can edit fonts and paragraph style.

Select Specific, and then Traffic Lights to add styling for specific data.

For example, we will have Profits that are greater than 200,000 display in Dark Blue. To edit the color, click on Style.

Click OK.

Select the Profit field.

Show the field tab (Field-Profit).

Select Specific and then Traffic Lights.

Profits greater than 200,000 shown in Dark Blue.

Show the selection of Style and specification of Bold, Dark Blue.

Now you can see that the profits that are greater than 200,000 display in Dark Blue.

Show data that displays in Dark Blue.

When you are done editing your report, simply click Run and the report will run in HTML.

Click Run.

Show the Result.
