Encrypting WebFOCUS Data, Procedures, and Data Restriction Rules

WebFOCUS data security controls access to data by placing restriction rules in the Master File that describes the data to WebFOCUS. These data restriction rules are referred to as WebFOCUS DBA security.

In order to prevent unauthorized users from viewing or changing these restriction rules, the WebFOCUS Database Administrator can encrypt the Master Files that contain them using the WebFOCUS ENCRYPT command. This command can also be used to encrypt WebFOCUS procedures (FOCEXECs).

In addition, data in a native WebFOCUS data source can be encrypted by adding the ENCRYPT attribute to the data description declarations in a Master File.

For more information about the WebFOCUS DBA facility and its encryption features, see the Describing Data With WebFOCUS Language manual.
