Encryption Using the WebFOCUS Administration Console

Using the WebFOCUS Administration Console, you can view and edit the variables in several WebFOCUS script files. You can also configure WebFOCUS Reporting Server nodes.

Encrypting WebFOCUS Script Files. When editing the cgivars.wfs (Client Settings), mime.wfs (Redirection Settings), or site.wfs (Customized Client Settings) files in the console, you can select the ENCRYPT check box, which will cause the file to be encrypted. When you access the file again using the console, it will be decrypted for you to view, and the ENCRYPT check box will still be selected. If you edit the file outside of the console, its contents will be encrypted.

Encrypting the WebFOCUS User Cookie (WF_USER). The ibiweb.cfg file contains WebFOCUS startup parameters. You can edit this file using the WebFOCUS Administration Console. Setting the ENCRYPT_WF_USER parameter to YES encrypts the WebFOCUS user cookie (WF_USER).

Configuring WebFOCUS Reporting Server Node Encryption Method. You can add or change the node settings in the odin.cfg file. You can select a value for the ENCRYPT setting to specify the data encryption ability and cryptography symmetric method used.
