Managed Reporting Architecture

Managed Reporting is an optional product that extends WebFOCUS with a named user reporting environment that balances the flexibility and features demanded by users with the security and manageability required by administrators.

Managed Reporting includes an end-user portal called the Business Intelligence Dashboard, which allows users to tailor the look and configuration of their reporting environment. You can also enable access to Managed Reporting content for many popular third-party portals with the optional Open Portal Services feature. These options are shown in the diagram below.

Managed Reporting has a security model that protects its resources. Users belong to groups and groups are mapped to reporting domains which contain the resources. When ReportCaster is installed with Managed Reporting, this model extends into ReportCaster. Schedules and library resources are also protected by the same user/group/domain model. Managed Reporting ensures that resource access is limited to those with the correct access rights and privileges. The flexibility and integrity of this process is supported by various features including encryption, session timeout, and drivers for external authentication and authorization providers.
