Status Codes

Topics:

Status codes reflect the result of API operations. Zero (0) is the only number used to indicate successful completion of a method call. Negative integers are used to represent fatal errors, and positive integers are used to represent recoverable errors and special conditions, such as end-of-set. When a recoverable error occurs, API permits the application program to continue issuing commands against the governing SCB. When a fatal error occurs, however, the system will refuse to honor any method call-except EDAXCONNECT-against the controlling SCB.
