Activation of Tracing

Rdaapp on UNIX, OS/390, z/OS, OpenVMS, OS/400 use the syntax "rdaapp -traceon" to activate traces. On MVS activation of the IBITRACE DD name to point a data set member with setting also activates tracing when the user start rdaapp.

Non rdaapp application such as the EDAAPP C sample are driven by the EDACALLBACK code within the application to decide if tracing is on or off and where the output should go. The code within the sample should be review for specifics.

• ODIN trace levels are now set in the IBITRACE file, replacing the TRACE= feature used in the ODIN.CFG file of earlier releases.
• ODIN trace levels no longer use bit-derived settings. The setting ODIN/12345 is equivalent to TRACE=31 (where 31 was derived from adding the 5 levels together 1+2+4+8+16). This rule should be followed when moving any settings from ODIN to IBITRACE.
