Filtering Data

Topics:

WebFOCUS provides many features for controlling the data or views of data that users can see or change.

WebFOCUS DBA security features provide security for any WebFOCUS data source. You can use these security features to limit the number of records a user can request in a report. You can even include rules that restrict access to specific fields or values within fields. Note that DBA security cannot protect a data source from non-WebFOCUS access.

Filters are selection criteria for a data source that are automatically added to each request against that data source. Filters are stored separately from the request, data, and metadata, and can be activated or deactivated using SET commands.

WebFOCUS development tools display the applications, files, and fields available for use. You can use special WebFOCUS variables to control which of these objects are displayed in the development tools.
