Temporary Space Allocation for UNIX and z/OS UNIX System Services

When you perform a standard server installation, a file system is created and mounted. The amount of space that is available to a running server using the file system is approximately n - 200 megabytes (where n is the size of available space in the file system before the server is installed). It is important to understand the server utilization of this space on behalf of the user community and the various techniques that can be employed to control the space used.
