Establishes a remote configuration receiver for subsequent commands. The named configuration must exist and be operational. Once entered, until the receiver is reset to the current configuration, all commands are executed by the named configuration. This enables that configuration to be controlled through a single console.
Configuration |
Description |
---|---|
remote - display |
Shows the named configuration in use (if any) |
remote - reset |
Returns command execution to the current configuration. |
remote [-config] <name> |
Sets the <name> configuration as the executor of subsequent commands. |
remote -host<url> |
Sets the configuration at the url as the executor of subsequent commands. |
Some commands cannot be executed by a remote configuration. These include spool, tool and remote.
If a spool has been established, messages from the executing configuration are included in the spool. Similarly, if a cmdstatus has been set to assist automation, this will also affect the executing configuration.
You can remote to a configuration in the local installation by specifying its name. For example, if the commands are being entered into the base configuration, and you wish to direct commands to another configuration named router, use remote -config router. The -config is optional. This form of the remote command only addresses configurations under the same iwayhome location.
You can also remote to a configuration running on another installation. To do this, you need to know the URL to reach the command handler of the configuration or the URL of the master configuration on that host. Each configuration has a command port which is shown in the control console for that configuration. Usually, the port for the base configuration on an installation is 9999, but can be changed during the installation. As additional configurations are created, they are assigned port numbers increasing by one: 10000, 10001, etc. Again, this can be changed when the configuration is created. The port is in the Managed Servers page as shown in the following image:
If the installation on a computer named is server2, you can address the router configuration as shown below:
remote -host server2:10000
You can also address this using the following configuration (although it is slightly less efficient):
remote -host server2:9999 -config router
