Directory Requirements

The following options are required in the user directory on the server:

MACHINE XC
IUCV ALLOW

You can also include the following:

IUCV ANY
OPTION MAXCONN 256 APPLMON

Because of limitations in z/VM, the server cannot query the IUCV ALLOW or IUCV ANY options in the directory. However, if the maximum number of IUCV paths (MAXCONN value) is 256 or higher, these options are probably enabled. If the setting is less than 256, a warning message will be issued to the server console, and the server will continue to startup.

Although the MAXCONN value can be as high as 64K, memory for the connections is reserved at IPL time, so it is a good idea to determine the number of connections you are likely to need before setting this value.

The maximum number of connections specified by the MAXCONN option in the directory determines the maximum number clients that can connect to the sink machine.
