The Release Signature

FOCUS runs in many operating environments and its configuration differs from one to the next. These differences are what we mean when we speak of the different versions of mainframe FOCUS: the z/OS version or the z/VM version. Each version can be created at each release level, sometimes with options selected at installation time. The release signature identifies the particular combinations available.

The release banner is always displayed when FOCUS is first entered. In the z/OS version it consists of a release number followed by the current date and time and your assigned sitecode. For example:

FOCUS 7.6.0 CREATED mm/dd/yyyy sitecode

To display the release signature at anytime from within FOCUS, issue the following command:

? RELEASE

In response FOCUS displays the release number, creation date, and sitecode of the current copy of FOCUS.

FOCUS 7.6.0 CREATED mm/dd/yyyy sitecode
