The FOCUS distribution cartridge is a labeled 3480 or 3490 cartridge created by the CMS VMFPLC2 utility. This step moves the contents of the cartridge onto the maintenance disk.

The person installing FOCUS must have write privileges to the production FOCUS CMS location. If you are downloading the files electronically rather than installing from a distribution tape, see Download the FOCUS Files Electronically.

To unload the cartridge:

1. Mount the cartridge on an IBM 3480 or 3490 drive as virtual 181.
2. Access the maintenance disk as your A disk, in READ/WRITE mode.
3. Issue the TAPE command to forward space to file 3 on the distribution cartridge:

   TAPE FSF 2

4. Issue the VMFPLC2 command to unload all files onto the maintenance disk:

   VMFPLC2 LOAD * * A

5. When the cartridge is unloaded, detach virtual 181.
